Just discovered a database error. I somehow doubt that two different people expressed their thoughts by cutting and pasting the same comment multiple times in different conversations. Coding's stalled until I can figure out what happened. Poop.*

- A third of the way there - I've committed to my dissertation group that I'll have the remaining thousand items coded by Tuesday. A little more than 16 hours left.
- There's a snide little voice in my head saying "If you thought this was bad, wait until data entry begins." 12 categories, 1500 items. erm, yeah.
- Thank god I reduced my data sample size.
- My irritation with communication that doesn't fit into the appropriate categories had beset my offline life. The other night my teasing mr. s got derailed because he responded "both" to a question that had mutually exclusive choices, and I got briefly agro about the dilemma.
- Obviously, this means that I'm immersed in the process. I'd prefer absentmindedness, but I'm sure that will come

- I made it on to Rate My Professors with 1s straight across the board! The commentary was priceless, and immediately alleviated my concerns that the rating was about my performance vs. a personal grudge: the rater stated remorsefully that this was "strictly business, nothing personal." The writing style resembles that of the student who was going to have to "talk to some people" about my clearly insane requirements that the assignments be grammatically correct, submitted on time, and in response to specific questions vs. copying wikipedia, so I'm not too bent out of shape. I could wish, slightly, that the other 18 students from the class would go comment, but it's never the happy students who use these mechanisms of feedback, is it?

I *love* stuff like this.
- Coding continues, not exactly "apace" but steadily enough. I've got a timesheet to keep me informed of my progress, and unfortunately I can't seem to get much further under a minute per item, overall. I've coded 20% of my sample, so I might not get that much faster. That's ok.
- I have the use of a good friend and fellow dissertator's apartment until around July 10, and it is wonderful. There's no wireless or other distractions (save for a few sanity saving magazines that I can look at when my eyes start to cross), and it's the perfect size and layout for my needs. I am so, so grateful - I expect to be finished with coding long before the apartment is once again in use by its owner.
- I did some demolition on our house yesterday - pulled up linoleum and pulled out a bunch of drywall & the accompanying nails, then shopvacced up the resulting mess. So much fun, demo is! A little bit sore today, but I've been without the collar for about 4 days now, which is excellent.
- My advisor's leaving on international business in a few days. He joked about taking my methodology chapter with him to read on the plane, but I'm not going to hold him to it. This is not as magnanimous a gesture as it might be, because the chapter remains largely in bits and pieces, some of which are still located inside my head.
